In 1980, Danny Gatton traded in his ’51 Martin D-18 for a ’54 Gibson ES 295 at the Nashville Pickin’ Parlor in Nashville TN. Over the next 14 years, Gatton used the 295 on 15+ recordings, including: Elmira St Boogie, Cherokee, Homage to Charlie Christian, Cruisin’, Heart Like a Rock, and the Simpsons.

Nashville singer/songwriter, Mike Campbell, purchased the 295 from the Gatton family in 2010 and used it on several albums up until selling it to me in June of 2018. From the start, my intention was to share this iconic instrument with as many guitar players as possible; it’s been my way of keeping his memory alive.

To date, the ’54 295 has been played onstage and backstage by dozens of famous and not so famous guitar-playing Danny Gatton fans.
